Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 17, 2026
This policy explains how Fargrain handles information when you use the Fargrain web app and Chrome extension to save and organize content.
Information we handle
- Account information: your email address, account identifier, and authentication and session information needed to sign you in and protect your account.
- Content you choose to save: page URLs and titles, selected text, images, and screenshots, along with associated bookmark metadata and content you create in the app.
- Waitlist information: your email address if you submit it to join the waitlist.
- Technical information: network requests necessarily expose information such as your IP address and request headers to our hosting and security provider for delivery, security, and rate limiting.
How the Chrome extension works
The extension accesses a page when you open it or use its right-click save action. It may prepare a screenshot of the visible tab locally as a preview. Capture content is uploaded only when you confirm Save; opening the extension alone does not upload the screenshot.
Images you select may be downloaded from their source website to prepare a preview or save. The extension requests access to an individual image host when needed. Fargrain does not collect your browsing history or monitor unrelated tabs in the background.
The extension stores drafts, preview images, save-queue records, account/session metadata, and short-lived capture credentials on your device so saves can survive interruptions. It uses your existing Fargrain sign-in session, but does not copy website authentication cookies or Cloudflare Access tokens into extension storage.
Why we use information
We use information to authenticate you, save and display your content, generate previews, synchronize your account, recover or retry saves you have confirmed, respond to support requests, and prevent abuse. Server-side capture processing may retrieve a saved page or image from its source website.
We do not sell your personal information or saved content, use it for targeted advertising, or use extension data for purposes unrelated to providing and securing Fargrain. Fargrain's use and transfer of information received through Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Service providers and sharing
Fargrain uses Cloudflare for hosting, authentication, storage, security, and capture processing. Cloudflare processes information as necessary to provide those services, which may involve processing outside your country. Requests to source websites expose the information normally included in those requests to those websites. We may also disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect users and the service.
Storage, retention, and your choices
Saved content is stored with your Fargrain account to make it available in the app. Local drafts and queue data can remain in your browser until removed. Deleted content may take time to be removed from recovery copies and underlying storage; security or legal requirements may also require some information to be retained.
You can remove local captures using the extension's controls and revoke its website permissions in Chrome. Uninstalling the extension does not delete content already saved to your account. Contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account information and saved content. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights, including the right to complain to a data protection authority.
Security
We use HTTPS, authenticated sessions, account access checks, and short-lived extension capture credentials to help protect information. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Fargrain changes. The date above identifies the latest revision.
